US Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

This law, among other things, requires that health-care providers and others handling patient information take measures to ensure the confidentiality of personal health information. The CS50 is HIPAA compliant since it uses secure digital encryption to prevent accidental or deliberate eavesdropping.
